| Obverse description | The coat of arms of the Republic of Niger occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a radiant sun above a zebu head, flanked by crossed spears and an olive branch, and supported by two draped national flags on either side. A ribbon scroll at the base of the arms bears the legend REPUBLIQUE DU NIGER. Above the arms, the word INDEPENDANCE arcs along the upper periphery in large raised letters. The denomination 50 FRS is inscribed in the lower central field, flanked by the commemorative date 3 AOUT 1960 arranged along the lower arc. |
