Burkina Faso has no native tiger population — the species is absent from West Africa entirely. These bimetallic issues, produced for the Central Bank of West African States, are unambiguously aimed at the collector market rather than circulation, part of a broad series pairing BCEAO member-state names with exotic wildlife that has no geographic or cultural connection to the issuing country.
