Obverse description Central field features a full-length figure of a medieval knight in armour, standing facing, raising a cross-topped staff in his right hand and holding a sword at his side, treading upon vanquished foes at his feet. The large denomination numeral '50' appears to the left of the figure and 'FR' to the right. The circumferential legend reads 'ROYAUME DE BELGIQUE' at the top and 'EXPOSITION DE BRUXELLES' along the right, separated by pellets, all within a beaded border. The design, engraved by Paul Wissaert, is executed in a bold Art Deco relief characteristic of Belgian coinage of the 1930s.
