Obverse description Multicolour intaglio print with a central vignette of Pierre Belain d'Esnambuc, the French coloniser of Martinique, shown in three-quarter portrait at left wearing a plumed hat and period costume. A tall-masted sailing ship occupies the upper right in an ocean vignette. The word MARTINIQUE is repeated vertically in the side borders, and the denomination CINQUANTE FRANCS is inscribed in large lettering at centre top, with the issuing authority CAISSE CENTRALE DE LA FRANCE D'OUTRE-MER above. The facsimile signature of the Directeur Général and the series and serial numbers appear in the lower portion.

Reverse description Multicolour intaglio print centred on a vignette of a seated Martiniquaise woman in traditional dress and turban, shown in three-quarter view, her torso bare, with decorative local motifs and stylised architectural elements in the background. The denomination numeral 50 appears at upper left and upper right, with MARTINIQUE in bold lettering at centre. A rectangular cartouche at lower right contains the statutory anti-counterfeiting warning text. The word MARTINIQUE is repeated vertically in the side borders.
