Jörg Zintzmeyer's eighth series for the SNB was the last Swiss issue designed by a single artist working across all denominations — a deliberate choice that gave the series a visual coherence unusual among central bank issues of the period. Orell Füssli has printed Swiss banknotes since the nineteenth century and remains one of the few security printers still operating in the same city as its founding.
The eighth series had an unusually long production run, with notes dated across nearly two decades before the ninth series fully displaced it from circulation in 2019.
