50 Francs 6th series

The 6th series was Switzerland's longest-running note issue of the twentieth century — introduced in 1976 and not fully withdrawn until 2000. The SNB's practice of dual-signature authorization by the Bank Council president and a vice-chairman or directorate member produced an unusually large number of signature combinations across a single series, and the 50-franc note accumulated more than two dozen pairings over its decade-plus print run. For collectors, the 1987–1988 transition to F. Schaller as the council signatory marks a clean break from the Wyss-era combinations and is worth tracking separately.
