Beschrijving keerzijde Central field displays the bold numeral '50' in large raised figures, with the denomination legend 'FRANCS' inscribed immediately below. The date '1960' appears in a rectangular cartouche at the upper portion of the field, while the year of issue '2020' is placed in the lower field beneath the denomination. The entire design is framed by a decorative border of stylized geometric chevron motifs encircling the periphery, a design element characteristic of the BEAC coinage series.

Aanvullende informatie

The Bank of Central African States — known by its French acronym BEAC — serves six member nations: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon. Maintaining a single currency across that many politically distinct economies, several of which have experienced coups or civil conflict in recent decades, requires constant negotiation over monetary policy. The 50 Francs CFA is one of the most physically handled denominations across the zone, with purchasing power low enough that it sees daily transactional use in informal markets throughout the region.
