Opmerkingen

Thomas De La Rue printed this series across a remarkably long span — the same basic design ran from 1977 through 1993, with date updates the primary distinction between issues. Burundi's monetary authority leaned heavily on continuity during a period that included severe regional instability and repeated cycles of ethnic violence, particularly the massacres of 1988, which devastated the northern provinces and triggered international scrutiny.

Later dates in the series are noticeably harder to source in higher grades, likely reflecting deteriorating economic conditions and heavy transactional use through the late 1980s and into the early 1990s.
