The Banque de l'Algérie operated under close structural dependence on the Banque de France throughout the interwar period, and this note reflects that arrangement literally — printed in Paris by the metropolitan issuing authority for colonial circulation in Algeria. The engraving is the work of Cesare Abramo Romagnoli, an Italian-born craftsman who contributed to several Banque de France productions of the period, lending the series a quality of execution rarely seen in colonial note programs of comparable face value.
The seventeen-year print run across three signature combinations is unusually long, suggesting the design was considered stable enough to avoid replacement despite significant political and economic turbulence in the colony during the 1930s.
