| Beschrijving voorzijde | Printed in green on white paper, the note is arranged with six topographic vignettes of Swiss towns and landscapes framing the central text panel: two along the top row and four along the bottom, each rendered in fine letterpress engraving. The central field carries the issuer's name in an arc above the denomination legend "CINQUANTE FRANCS" set in large bold type within an elaborate guilloche oval border. Numerals "50" appear in circular medallions at left and right, and the payability clause "payables au porteur et à présentation" is inscribed below the denomination, with signature lines for the Président de la Direction, Administrateur, and Caissier at the foot of the note. |

The Crédit Agricole et Industriel de la Broye was one of several short-lived cantonal and regional private banks that proliferated in Fribourg canton during the mid-nineteenth century before federal banking consolidation steadily eroded their right of issue. By 1877 the writing was already on the wall — the Swiss National Bank's eventual monopoly on note issue, formalized in 1907, would render all such regional paper obsolete. Notes from Estavayer-based institutions are particularly scarce simply because the bank's circulation area was small and rural, with limited total issuance.
Pick 264 is rarely offered, and examples in any condition attract serious attention from Swiss cantonal paper specialists.
