Tromelin Island has no permanent population, no economy, and no circulating currency. The Scattered Islands are administered by France as a nature reserve and weather station — nothing more. These "issues" are produced for the collector market under a legal fiction of territorial authority, sold by private minting operations that license place-names from French overseas jurisdictions. Tromelin has never seen a coin in circulation.
