Issued to mark the 170th anniversary of Hungary's organized fire service, which traces its institutional founding to 1870 following a series of devastating urban fires that swept through Hungarian towns during the mid-nineteenth century. The standardization of municipal fire brigades that followed was part of broader Austro-Hungarian administrative reforms rather than any domestic initiative alone.
