Obverse description A muscular male figure, rendered in a vigorous socialist-realist style, is depicted seated facing right in the center of the field, holding a hammer in his raised right hand and resting his left hand on an anvil or work surface beneath him. The figure is bare-chested, conveying the idealized imagery of the industrial worker characteristic of the early Hungarian People's Republic coinage. The circular legend MAGYAR · KÖZTÁRSASÁG arcs along the upper periphery, reading from left to right around the figure. The date 1948 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the central design.
