Obverse description Central field dominated by three large Chinese characters arranged vertically: 光 (Guang) at upper right, 元 (Yuan) at upper left, and 緒 (Xu) at lower center, spelling the reign title Guangxu, with a small vertical Manchu script legend in the center of the field. The characters are rendered in bold relief with an elegant brushstroke style. An inner beaded border frames the central design, while the outer legend reads 'KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE' at the top and '3 MACE AND 6 CANDAREENS' along the lower arc, all in raised Latin capitals. The coin displays attractive iridescent blue and rose toning characteristic of copper patterns of this period.
