| Obverse description | Central field bears four large Chinese characters reading 光緒元寶 (Guangxu Yuanbao) arranged in a cruciform pattern, with small Manchu script characters inscribed vertically in the center between them. The coin is framed by an inner beaded border, with the Latin legend KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE arcing across the upper periphery and the denomination 3 MACE AND 6 CANDAREENS along the lower periphery, each separated by a small five-pointed star. The overall design is spare and calligraphic, with no portrait or figurative imagery on this face. |
