50 Fen - Guangxu

The Manchurian Provincial coinage of 1907 was struck at a moment when Qing central authority over the northeast was under serious external pressure — the region had just emerged from the Russo-Japanese War fought largely on its soil, and both Russia and Japan retained significant railway and commercial footholds. Provincial minting was in part an assertion of administrative control over territory that foreign powers were actively contesting.

Y#211 is frequently encountered with uneven surfaces attributed to inconsistent planchet preparation at the Fengtian mint. Not a strike weakness — a documented preparation issue specific to this type.
