| Reverse description | The reverse presents a bold, high-relief frontal effigy of a buffalo standing full-body within a raised circular border, its imposing horns curving prominently above. To the right of the animal, the Chinese character for ox (牛) is struck in the field. The surrounding annular border and outer field are richly decorated with fine low-relief motifs evoking Chinese decorative arts and zodiac imagery.
