| Opis rewersu | The reverse depicts a high-relief reproduction of the Baroque sculptural group The Baptism of Christ by Maltese sculptor Giuseppe Mazzuoli (1644–1725), showing Christ kneeling in a humble posture on a rocky plinth as Saint John the Baptist stands over him with raised arm, a small angelic figure positioned at their feet. The composition captures the dynamic, expressive quality characteristic of the Baroque period with finely modelled drapery and musculature. The legend THE BAPTISM OF CHRIST • GIUSEPPE MAZZUOLI • 1644-1725 arcs along the upper border within a beaded inner circle against a dark frosted field. The engraver's initials NGB appear on the plinth below the sculptural group, and the denomination 50 EURO is inscribed in the lower exergue flanked by decorative foliate ornaments. |
