Obverse description A detailed engraving of the French ocean liner L'Amazone occupies the central field, depicted in three-quarter view underway at sea, with twin funnels emitting plumes of smoke and a mast with rigging rising above the superstructure. The vessel is rendered in fine relief against a stippled sea, conveying the ship's imposing scale and early twentieth-century maritime character. The bold incuse legend L'AMAZONE appears in large capital letters across the lower portion of the design, partially overlapping the hull of the ship. The Republican monogram RF is inscribed in the lower field beneath the vessel, denoting the French Republic.

Reverse description The reverse features a stylised close-up composition of two large ship funnels with billowing smoke clouds rendered in a modernist graphic style, occupying the upper portion of the field. A horizontal band bearing the legend LES GRANDS NAVIRES FRANÇAIS in bold capital letters crosses the centre of the design. Below this band, a schematic depiction of the ship's lower hull and propeller housing is visible in relief. The denomination 50 EURO appears prominently to the upper right in large numerals and lettering. The date 2013 is inscribed in the lower exergue, flanked by decorative dots.
