| Obverse description | Central to the design is the Webb Ellis Cup, the trophy awarded to the winner of the Rugby World Cup, rendered in fine detail. To the left of the cup appears the Republican monogram 'RF' (République Française), while the face value '50 €' is inscribed to the right. The official Rugby World Cup France 2023 logo is positioned below the cup in the lower field. A continuous circular legend reading 'COUPE DU MONDE RUGBY FRANCE 2023' frames the entire composition along the periphery. |

| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a dynamic full-figure representation of a rugby player in motion, carrying an oval ball. To the right of the central figure, a stylised stadium structure is rendered in the mid-ground, evoking the tournament venues. In the left background, the Arc de Triomphe in Paris rises prominently, anchoring the design with a distinctly French national identity and providing a strong sense of depth and urban setting. |

France hosted the Rugby World Cup in 2023 for the second time, having previously staged the tournament in 2007. The Monnaie de Paris has issued commemorative coinage for major sporting events on French soil since at least the 1998 FIFA World Cup, and this 5 oz silver piece follows that institutional pattern. South Africa won the tournament, defeating New Zealand in the final at Saint-Denis — the third consecutive World Cup title for the Springboks.
