Phryge was the official mascot of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, named after the Phrygian cap — the red liberty bonnet that appears throughout French republican iconography dating back to the Revolution. The Monnaie de Paris issued this piece ahead of the Games as part of an extensive collector program; the "Allez !!!" series titles were deliberately casual in register, an unusual choice for an institution whose official output rarely strays from formal nomenclature.
