Issued to mark the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris in December 2024, following the catastrophic fire of April 2019 that destroyed the spire and most of the roof structure. The five-year reconstruction involved over 250 specialist craftsmen and drew on medieval timber-framing techniques that had not been practiced at scale in France for generations. The Monnaie de Paris moved quickly to document the restoration through several coin programs, of which this 2025 gold issue is among the most direct commemoratives tied to the completed work rather than the disaster itself.
