| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse depicts the iconic comic-book character Lucky Luke alongside Bass Reeves in a cotton field, rendered in a colorized illustrative style after the cover artwork of the album 'Un cow-boy dans le coton.' Lucky Luke appears at left in his characteristic cowboy attire, with Bass Reeves positioned to his right amid the cotton plants. The legend 'RF UN COW-BOY DANS LE COTON' appears in the field, with 'RF' serving as the standard Republican France monogram. |

Part of Monnaie de Paris's ongoing "La BD immortelle" series celebrating Franco-Belgian comic strip heritage, Lucky Luke was created by Belgian cartoonist Maurice De Bevere — known as Morris — in 1946, first appearing in the Belgian journal Almanach Spirou. The series has sold over 300 million albums worldwide, making it one of the best-selling European comics of all time.
René Goscinny, later of Astérix fame, co-wrote the series from 1955 until his death in 1977.
