Obverse description The obverse features a central recessed circular well designed to accommodate the companion 5 Euro coin of the series, within which appears the effigy of King Juan Carlos I in right-facing bust. Surrounding the central zone, the shields of Spain's autonomous communities and autonomous cities are arranged in a decorative border. The legend 75º ANIVERSARIO DE S.M. EL REY arcs along the upper field, while ESPAÑA 2013 appears in the lower field.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a detailed view of the Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real de Madrid), rendered in fine relief across the field. At the upper center, a fleur-de-lis ornament serves as a decorative motif. To the right, the personal coat of arms of King Juan Carlos I is prominently displayed. The denomination 50 EURO and the mint mark M appear alongside the inscription PALACIO REAL DE MADRID.
