Obverse description The obverse presents a detailed engraved reproduction of a central detail from Hieronymus Bosch's triptych 'The Garden of Earthly Delights,' rendered in struck relief against a mirror-polished field. The fantastical scene depicts a multitude of nude human figures, animals, and hybrid creatures intertwined in Bosch's characteristic surrealist composition, occupying the right portion of the coin. To the upper left, the legend 'EL BOSCO' appears at the top of the square format within a recessed panel, while 'ESPAÑA' and the denomination '50 EURO' are inscribed in large characters to the left of the central image. The Madrid Mint mark 'M' crowned and the date '2016' appear below the denomination. Along the lower border runs the inscription 'TESOROS DE MUSEOS ESPAÑOLES,' referencing the series dedicated to treasures of Spanish museums. The square coin's border is decorated with a repeating beaded or scroll motif framing the entire design.

Reverse description The reverse features a full-color reproduction of the central panel of Hieronymus Bosch's masterpiece 'The Garden of Earthly Delights,' housed in the Museo del Prado, Madrid. The vibrant polychrome image covers the entire square field, depicting a surreal, teeming landscape populated by innumerable nude human figures, exotic animals, giant fruits, and fantastical architectural structures rendered in Bosch's distinctive Early Netherlandish style. The upper portion of the composition shows a panoramic background with blue spherical and pink tower-like structures rising above a lush green meadow, while the middle and lower registers are filled with densely packed figures engaged in enigmatic activities. The color printing technique faithfully replicates the vivid yellows, greens, blues, and pinks of the original oil painting. The square border mirrors the obverse's decorative beaded framing, with no additional legends or inscriptions on the reverse field.
