Additional information

Part of the long-running "Monuments de Paris" series, this issue was struck the same year the Grand Palais underwent significant restoration work on its iron-and-glass roof structure — a project that had been intermittently ongoing since the building's construction for the 1900 Exposition Universelle. The Invalides, completed under Louis XIV in 1708, has served as a military burial site continuously since the Ancien Régime.

The .920 gold alloy is characteristic of Monnaie de Paris collector issues from this period, slightly below the .999 fine used in bullion strikes but consistent across the broader commemorative program.
