Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features a highly detailed close-up view of the iron lattice framework of the Eiffel Tower, rendered as an abstract architectural composition filling the entire field. The intricate riveted girders and diagonal cross-bracing of the tower's base are depicted in a bold, graphic style, converging at the centre of the design. The French Republican motto 'LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ' arcs across the upper portion of the field in three separated segments. The denomination '50 EURO' appears in the lower centre of the field, with the monogram 'RF' (République Française) inscribed in large characters at the bottom.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a three-quarter facing portrait bust of Gustave Eiffel, the celebrated French engineer, occupying the left portion of the field. He is depicted in formal late 19th-century attire, wearing a suit and tie, with a naturalistic rendering of his facial features. Behind and to the right of his effigy rises a stylised representation of the Eiffel Tower, its distinctive tapering silhouette set against a background of architectural engineering drawings and structural framework elements. The date '2009' appears to the right of the tower, accompanied by the mint's privy marks. The legend 'GUSTAVE EIFFEL' is inscribed in prominent capital letters along the lower field, with the dates '1832-1923' denoting his birth and death years immediately below.
