Lithuania joined the eurozone on 1 January 2015, making it the last of the three Baltic states to do so and completing a monetary transition that had been delayed partly by eurozone admission criteria Lithuania struggled to meet through the mid-2000s. Collector gold issues denominated in euros from Baltic central banks remain thinly traded outside the region, and the Bank of Lithuania's numismatic program has historically produced low mintages that rarely exceed a few thousand pieces.
