Zusätzliche Informationen

Antonio Sciortino (1879–1947) was Malta's most celebrated sculptor of the early twentieth century, best known for his tenure as director of the British School at Rome. This issue was part of Malta's ongoing gold commemorative program honoring Maltese cultural figures, a series the Central Bank has used selectively since the island's EU accession in 2004 to assert a distinct national artistic identity through its coinage.

Mintages on these Maltese gold commemoratives are typically very low — often under 2,500 pieces — making secondary market appearances infrequent.
