Obverse description The traditional Irish harp, the national symbol of Ireland, is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field against a polished proof background. The inscription 'ÉIRE' arcs along the left side of the field, while the date '2016' descends vertically along the right side, both rendered in a Gaelic-influenced Latin script. The design is austere and emblematic, consistent with the long-standing coinage tradition of the Irish state.
