| Obverse description | Detailed view of Mont Saint-Michel, the iconic tidal island and medieval abbey in Normandy, France, depicted in a striking split composition: the upper half shows the island and its Gothic abbey rising above the surrounding village and causeway, rendered in fine engraved detail against a sky with stylized seagulls in flight, while the lower half presents a mirror-image reflection of the scene in the tidal waters below.
