| 背面描述 | Printed in red on white paper, the reverse centres on an allegorical vignette of a female figure with sailing ships in the background, evoking maritime trade and colonial commerce. A red overprinted 'GUINÉ' inscription designates provincial use, mirroring the overprint treatment of the obverse. The bank name and printer's imprint appear in the lower margin. |

| 备注 |
Bradbury, Wilkinson produced this note for Banco Nacional Ultramarino at a moment when the institution was managing currency across multiple Portuguese overseas territories simultaneously — Mozambique, Angola, Portuguese India, Timor, and others all drew on shared or closely related plate work from the same London firm. The specific territorial attribution for P#17 matters here: BNU issued near-identical denominations for different colonies in this period, and misattribution in older collections is common.
The 1921 date places this squarely in Portugal's First Republic years, a period of severe monetary instability on the mainland that directly pressured colonial banking authorities to maintain independent emission controls.
