| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of Sigismund III Vasa facing right, rendered in high relief, wearing elaborately engraved parade armor with a lion's head pauldron at the shoulder and the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended at the neck. A microdate '1621' appears in the field behind the bust near the commencement of the legend, while the engraver's initials 'S·A' (for Samuel Amman) are placed discreetly beneath the truncation. The entire composition is contained within a raised oak-leaf border. The circumferential legend in Latin reads: ❁ SIGISMVNDVS III D:G: POLONIÆ ET SVECIÆ REX ❁. |
