| Description de l’avers | The coat of arms of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic occupies the central field, depicting a double-headed eagle displayed with wings spread, surmounted by a royal crown, and bearing an escutcheon on its breast charged with a mountain landscape and traditional architectural motifs. Radiating sunburst lines emanate from behind the eagle, filling the inner field. The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic issued this coin during one of the most turbulent periods in its short existence — just months after the 2020 Azerbaijani offensive that stripped the unrecognized state of roughly two-thirds of its remaining territory. Coinage from this issuer after that point carries an almost archival quality: a government minting currency for a population and jurisdiction that were rapidly being dismantled by military and political force.
The republic itself ceased to exist in September 2023 following a renewed Azerbaijani military operation lasting under 24 hours.
