| Obverse description | The national seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands occupies the central field, enclosed within a decorative chain border. The seal depicts a traditional Marshallese stick chart navigation device at center, surrounded by a radiant sun above, a sailing canoe to the right, and a Christian church to the left, all set against an island seascape. A ribbon scroll at the base of the seal bears the word SEAL. The denomination '$50' appears to the left of the seal and the date '1991' to the right, both within the border.
