Obverse description The obverse is dominated by an intaglio vignette of a mythical Chinese lion with ball positioned to the right, executed in fine line engraving. The denomination numeral 50 appears in the upper left and lower right corners, with a blank panel at left reserved for the warrior head watermark. Two serial numbers run across the lower portion of the note, accompanied by the promise-to-pay text, issuer name, and date inscribed in both English and Chinese characters across the central field.
