Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a highly detailed left-facing profile view of the Canadian Pacific Railway Royal Hudson steam locomotive No. 2860, rendered in finely frosted relief against mirror-proof fields. The locomotive is depicted in full broadside view on a section of track, with billowing steam and smoke clouds rising dramatically above and filling the upper field behind the legend. The inscription FIFTY DOLLARS arcs along the upper periphery, while ROYAL HUDSON appears in the lower field immediately below the locomotive. The date 1996 is prominently placed along the bottom of the coin in large numerals.

Aanvullende informatie

The Royal Hudson — Canadian Pacific's 4-6-4 steam locomotive class, named after a 1939 royal tour on which King George VI rode the cab — became an unlikely icon of mid-century North American railroading. The Marshall Islands issued a prolific series of commemorative dollars throughout the 1990s targeting the collector market directly, rarely if ever circulating in the islands themselves. KM#380 is one of dozens of transport-themed issues from this program.
