Beschrijving keerzijde A finely detailed relief portrait of a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 MF supersonic jet fighter aircraft is depicted in a dynamic three-quarter overhead view, angled diagonally across the field with its delta wing planform and ventral fins clearly rendered. Red stars are visible on the fuselage, evoking the aircraft's Soviet-era military service. A lightly frosted sky field with cloud striations provides the background. The aircraft designation MiG-21MF is inscribed in a curved legend along the upper arc, while the denomination 50 DOLLARS appears in two lines at the lower right of the field.

Aanvullende informatie

The Marshall Islands operated no traditional central bank mint infrastructure and contracted virtually all its commemorative coinage to foreign producers throughout the 1990s, during which it issued an extraordinary volume of themed dollars targeting the collector market. This MiG-21MF issue belongs to that decade's aviation series — a program so prolific it drew criticism from numismatic dealers for market saturation.

The MF variant of the MiG-21 entered Soviet service in 1970, exported widely to Warsaw Pact and non-aligned nations alike, and saw combat across four continents.
