Beschrijving keerzijde Three elaborately costumed Junkanoo festival performers are depicted in the central field, each adorned with large ornate headdresses and traditional festive attire; the central figure, shown slightly larger and more prominent, is flanked by two drummers in animated poses. The composition captures the exuberant spirit of the Bahamian Junkanoo street parade, with intricate detailing on the costumes and percussion instruments. The legend JUNKANOO FESTIVAL arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, while the denomination 50 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower periphery.

Aanvullende informatie

Junkanoo — the street parade rooted in the traditions of enslaved West Africans who were permitted to celebrate during the Christmas holiday — has been central to Bahamian cultural identity since at least the 18th century. The Bahamas issued several gold commemoratives through the early 1990s targeting the collector market, with Junkanoo-themed pieces appearing across multiple denominations during this period.

KM#199 is a relatively low-mintage collector issue with no circulation history.
