Obverse description The national seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands occupies the central field, depicting a frigate bird with outstretched wings above a traditional outrigger canoe and palm trees, with a radiant sun in the upper portion of the seal. The outer legend REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination $50 appears to the left and the date 1989 to the right. The Marshallese national motto JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN curves along the lower border, all framed by an ornate chain border. The overall design faithfully reproduces the official state seal in fine relief against a mirror-polished field.
