| 正面描述 | The central field features the official Seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, depicting a frigatebird with outstretched wings above a traditional Marshallese outrigger canoe on water, flanked by a sun rising upper left and a crescent moon upper right, with a fishnet in the background; the word SEAL appears on a ribbon in the lower portion of the seal device. The denomination '$50' is inscribed to the left within the border, and the date '1991' appears to the right. The surrounding legend reads 'REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS' along the upper arc and the national motto 'JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN' along the lower arc, all enclosed within a decorative chain border. |

Issued in 1991 to capitalize on immediate public enthusiasm following Operation Desert Storm, this piece is one of several Marshall Islands commemoratives from the same year targeting the collector market rather than circulation. The Republic of the Marshall Islands had no meaningful domestic coin-using economy — these were dollar-denominated issues produced for foreign buyers from the outset, a practice the islands had refined through the late 1980s.
KM#42 is one of multiple Desert Storm-themed releases the RMI authorized that year, making individual pieces less scarce than their limited-edition marketing implied.
