| Reverse description | A full-length figure of a man, dressed in a long coat and cap, stands to the right of a skeletal tubular rocket mounted on a lattice-work launch frame, depicted in fine detail against a mirror-like proof field scattered with engraved stars. The composition commemorates Robert H. Goddard's pioneering first liquid-fueled rocket launch of 16 March 1926. The curved legend FIRST LIQUID FUEL ROCKET LAUNCH-1926 runs along the lower periphery. The denomination 50 FIFTY DOLLARS appears in the right field. |

| Additional information |
Robert Goddard launched the first liquid-fueled rocket on March 16, 1926, from his aunt's farm in Auburn, Massachusetts. The flight lasted 2.5 seconds and reached an altitude of roughly 41 feet — a trajectory so modest that Goddard himself described it as comparable to a short walk. The Marshall Islands issued commemorative dollars throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s targeting the collector market directly, with many pieces having negligible secondary circulation.
