Additional information

The F8U Crusader entered Navy service in 1957 and became the last American fighter designed around a gun as its primary weapon — a philosophy the Vietnam War would brutally vindicate, as missile-only fighters repeatedly failed in close combat. The Marshall Islands issued dozens of military aviation commemoratives throughout the 1990s, most struck by the Pobjoy Mint under license, targeting the collector market rather than any domestic circulation.

Mintage figures for this series were rarely disclosed publicly, which has made secondary-market pricing erratic for the entire run.
