| Descripción del anverso | Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, engraved after the portrait by Arnold Machin, wearing a tiara and with hair dressed in elegant waves. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field and COOK ISLANDS along the right, with the date 1974 inscribed in the lower exergue. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored field, consistent with a proof or proof-like finish. The overall composition is clean and classical, reflecting the standard Commonwealth effigy of the period. |

| Descripción del reverso | The right-facing portrait bust of Sir Winston Churchill dominates the right portion of the field, rendered in bold relief with strong facial detail. To the left, a depiction of the Palace of Westminster with the Clock Tower (Big Ben) is shown beneath a large unfurled Union Jack flag filling the upper background. The centennial commemorative dates 1874 and 1974 flank the central design on the left and right respectively, with the arc legend MAN OF THE CENTURY running along the upper periphery. Churchill's facsimile signature, Winston S. Churchill, appears in the lower central field, and the denomination FIFTY DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower rim. The design, engraved by James Berry, bears the engraver's initials JB at the lower left of the portrait. |

This issue marks one of the earliest large-format silver strikes from Cook Islands, produced just four years after the territory gained self-governance in free association with New Zealand. Churchill had died in 1965, and commemorative coinage bearing his likeness proliferated throughout Commonwealth nations during the late 1960s and 1970s — Cook Islands was late to that wave but produced one of the heavier silver pieces in the series.
The .925 silver specification and substantial weight place this firmly in the collector-issue category; no circulating economy of roughly 20,000 people had practical use for a coin of this size.
