| Reverse description | Faithful enlargement of the obverse design of the French colonial 30 Deniers coin of 1711, struck during the reign of Louis XIV and associated with New France. The central device comprises the interlaced double-L royal cipher of Louis XIV, surmounted by an ornate royal crown, flanked by two fleurs-de-lis to the left and right, with a third fleur-de-lis below. The circular legend LVD XIIII FR ET NAV REX 1711, reading clockwise from the upper left, runs between an inner beaded border and an outer reeded rim, replicating the original baroque lettering style of the Mints of France. |

The "Relics of New France" issue draws on the material culture of the French colonial period in North America, when New France at its territorial peak stretched from Hudson Bay to the Gulf of Mexico — a dominion that collapsed almost entirely with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The Royal Canadian Mint has produced a number of high-relief, large-format fine silver pieces in this vein, using advanced surface treatments to distinguish archaeological and historical artifact themes from its more conventional commemorative output.
KM#3256 is a modern collector piece with no circulation history by design.
