Cook Islands issued a sprawling series of wildlife-themed silver coins in the late 1980s and early 1990s, largely marketed through European and North American coin dealers rather than circulated domestically. The Poplar Admiral — Limenitis populi, native to temperate Eurasia — has no particular connection to the Cook Islands, which tells you most of what you need to know about the series' priorities.
