| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse features the mature effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicted bare-headed and wearing a necklace and earrings, facing right, as rendered at approximately 77 years of age. The legend ELIZABETH II CANADA D•G•REGINA arcs around the upper field, with the denomination 50 DOLLARS and the engraver's initials SB also present. Distinctively, the coin's field behind the effigy incorporates a magnified rendition of the intricate geometric pattern found on the reverse, creating a unified design continuity between both faces. The high-relief strike accentuates the fine detail of the portrait and the patterned field, lending the piece a sculptural quality characteristic of modern Royal Canadian Mint commemorative issues. |

The original Peace Dollar was an American coin, which makes the Royal Canadian Mint's decision to produce this oversized tribute a minor curiosity in itself — Canada issuing a premium collectible built entirely around U.S. monetary history. The 1921–1935 Peace series was commissioned specifically to mark the end of World War I, with Anthony de Francisci's design selected under considerable time pressure. The RCM's 2022 rendition restrikes that iconography in .9999 fine silver at a scale impossible for the original production dies.
De Francisci's wife Teresa served as the model for the original obverse. That detail is documented.
