| Obverse description | The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by engraver Susan Taylor, portraying Her Majesty at 77 years of age as a bare-headed right-facing portrait. The Queen is depicted wearing a necklace and drop earrings, rendered with fine detail characteristic of the Taylor portrait series adopted by the Royal Canadian Mint. The surrounding legend is arranged along the upper periphery, while the denomination appears within the field. The portrait maintains the refined, mature likeness introduced for Canadian coinage in the early 2000s. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, designed by Canadian artist Matt Eggink, features a single sugar maple leaf (Acer saccharum) as the central motif, its multiple individually engraved facets selectively plated in either yellow or rose gold to create striking chromatic contrast and a sense of motion. The leaf is set against a finely laser-engraved relief background pattern that enhances its sculptural dimensionality. Ten geometric shapes arranged in a partial frame surround the composition, each representing one of Canada's native maple species. A privy mark commemorating the 25th anniversary (1996–2021) of the maple leaf's designation as Canada's official national arboreal emblem is incorporated into the design. The legend CANADA and the dual date inscription appear within the field. |
