Obverse description Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, depicted at approximately 77 years of age, bare-headed, wearing a necklace and drop earrings, after the portrait by Susanna Blunt. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper field, with the denomination 50 DOLLARS and the date 2014 completing the inscription around the periphery. The portrait is rendered in incuse style, with the design elements recessed into the frosted field.

Reverse description Three stylized sugar maple leaves (Acer saccharum) sharing a common stem, depicted in high-relief incuse style with finely detailed vein work across each lobe. The largest leaf dominates the upper-centre of the field, flanked by two smaller leaves extending to the lower left and lower right. The purity designation PL and fineness mark 9999 appear to the right of the central device, while the legend CANADA arcs along the upper periphery and FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR curves along the lower border.
