Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation — which the Cayman Islands commemorated a year late, in 1979–1980 — this piece belongs to a wave of Commonwealth gold issues that flooded the market in that period, many struck in debased alloys to keep prices accessible.
